People who get up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night are less productive in work than those who sleep throughout, research suggests.
Nocturia - where a person wakes up once or more in a night to urinate - leads to "notable work productivity loss", a study presented to the European Association of Urology congress in Milan claims.
Researchers examined 261 women and 385 men with the condition and gave them a standardised work productivity and activity impairment questionnaire

  • Those with nocturia lose 24% productivity at work
  • Sufferers have to wake up once or more at night to urinate
  • Workers who get up carry out a quarter less work
